Meet the Trainer

Julie Godfrey, MS, GSP

Julie started her career as a Bioenvironmental Engineering Journeyman in the United States Air Force. There she was trained in HAZWOPER, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare response, and broken arrows. Prior to her military training, she worked with the Mariposa County Search and Rescue, volunteered with the fire department, and worked as a lifeguard. During and after her time in the USAF, she worked on hazardous waste sites in the California Bay Area and in San Diego County. She teaches full-time and manages the Environmental Health and Safety Management program at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, CA.

Julie stays current with her HAZWOPER training by maintaining her membership with the National Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (NPETE), an organization funded by federal grants from organizations such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), and the National Science Foundation. She has almost a decade of experience teaching numerous HAZWOPER, RCRA, DOT, HAZCOM, and chemical hygiene classes.
