8-Hour Refresher Training
The 8-hour refresher training provides workers with a review of existing knowledge and skills to perform hazardous waste operations and emergency response. The refresher training covers topics such as:
hazard recognition,
toxicology,
chemical properties,
fire and explosion hazards,
site safety and health practices,
emergency response plans,
spill control programs,
container sampling procedures, and
decontamination procedures.
The in-person course also includes hands-on exercises and demonstrations of:
air sampling and monitoring equipment,
selection, use, and limitations of personal protective equipment, including respirators,
the proper preparation of containers for shipping and transport,
communication methods while wearing respiratory protection,
establishing exposure zones, decontamination,
donning and doffing PPE.
The course is in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 and Cal/OSHA Title 8, Section 5192 and is suitable for refreshing a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Site Worker and a 24-hour HAZMAT Technician certificate of training.
